Branded (the movie)

Branded Trailer

This movie was pretty interesting. It starts off very slow and probably for the first 45 minutes I had absolutely no idea what was going on or where it was headed. But around the hour mark things start to develop. The last 30 minutes is when things start to come together and you finally figure out what is going on. It provided a unique prospective on how we view global advertising. Advertising products have changed the way we view the world. From what types of food we eat, to the types of clothes we wear, and even how we think of ourselves all of these things have been influenced by companies advertising their products. Next you're out just look at all the signs and posters or anything that is trying to sell you a product or persuade you towards their point of view. Ask yourself this how many people have been persuaded by this advertisement and who they are competing against. It's really interesting once you start to notice all the "Brands Wars" taking place.

Enjoy Your Life

  (Vacation on Tybee Island)
Too many times we sit around wishing we had things that we don't. We should take some time sit back and be thankful for what we do have. I'm sure in a lot of cases things could be much worse for us. I'm not saying to stop trying to improve or your situation, but don't let it stress you out. Work hard, relax even harder and spend some time with your family and friends. When things get really down and out those are going to be the people that stick with you no matter how bad you are doing. When you think about, it in the end, we can't take anything with us when we pass on.
I met a homeless guy once and I spoke with him. We had an interesting conversation about how hard his life was and how he ended up homeless. But he told me this, "Life is life" and he wasn't going to worry about how he became homeless because worrying about the past wasn't going to help him get back on his feet. He was looking to the future when he could finally get off the streets and back to living a decent, comfortable life. So when things are said and done and can't be changed just say to yourself "Life is life" and keep on pushing till you get it right.

Oh yeah... Happy Belated New Years!

Becoming a Teacher

One of the most challenging things to do in life is teaching another person new skills. It takes knowledge, understanding, and patience beyond measure. I've never had much patience so needless to say today's instruction on how to make waffles went by excruciatingly slow. After countless number of "No! Don't do that!", "Wait, what did you just do?", and "That's too much!", We finally managed to successfully make enough waffles to eat breakfast. But the best part is knowing that you are teaching someone skills, tips, and tricks that they will use for the rest of their life. It also gives a sense of self satisfaction knowing that others look to you for guidance.
Becoming a teacher is not easy and not every has to the tools necessary to become one. But if you ever have the privilege to teach, it is one of the most rewarding experiences you'll ever have. In that moment when you see that flash understanding run across the face of your pupil, the biggest feeling of pride, accomplishment, and relief will settle over both of you creating a bond that will remain between you until the end of your lives.

Teaching tips for everyday of the year.

What makes a hero?

What makes a hero? Today I learned that there is one simple rule to becoming a hero. In order to become a true hero one must learn to love and lead those around them. A hero is not created only by accomplishing great feats, but by living life day-to-day in a way that it inspires the people they come in contact with. A hero is a person that will put the needs of someone else ahead of their own, not because they feel obligated to but because they want to. A hero is also a source of wisdom and counseling. But above all a hero is a source of hope. Hero's tell the world that no matter how bad your circumstances are at the moment there is always hope that you can improve or change them.
